The MudLab.org Roleplay Forum is provided for all administrators, designers and players to discuss roleplaying in online, text-based realms. While roleplaying issues that pertain to the player - from character creation strategies to background and description writing - are certainly allowed for discussion, the primary purpose of this forum is to aid administrators and designers in creating and implementing systems that will benefit, encourage or enforce roleplaying in their respective gaming environments.
This forum exists to benefit anyone interested in roleplaying or the creation of features that support roleplaying. It is not restricted to MU*s that bear the label RPI or roleplaying enforced.
Please respond to questions raised by addressing the specific concerns of the player or administrator while keeping in mind the environment they call home. This is not a forum to suggest that all administrators create RPI MUDs.
Ad hominem attacks - be they at the poster or their project - should not be posted.
Similarly, any promotions - blatant or otherwise - are not acceptable. |

Ayiyiaih.
For years the MU*/M* label has been used as a raised middle finger to those running DikuMuds and LPMuds. Maybe it's time to drop the ridiculous perpetuation of this dubious and divisive 90's terminology. Especially now that role-playing is actually becoming more popular and attractive among the Dikumud community, and when esteemed and respected Mushers like Javelin insist they are part of MUD Community and consider their servers to be muds.
I don't think it's wise to launch warning shots concerning RPI advocacy before any such posts are made, especially while using the Diku slapping MU* terminology. That is it doesn't mean what you think it means to many of us.
No and I'm not a big fan of RPI however I rather enjoy spirited discussion with those nasty hobbitses.
Seriously, moderate not advocate or disadvocate. |
